About

My name is Jeremy, and I go by DOUBLE HELIX nowadays. I am a Michigan born-and-raised artist with a love for character design, and story telling. I am currently working on illustrating a graphic novel project that has been over 18 years in the making, and just honestly chasing dreams. I met my wonderful partner who is currently chasing her own artistic dreams and it kicked me in the ass hard enough to stop dragging feet and follow her lead. I am now doing everything I can to put myself out there and share my art and passion with everyone.

Before I started taking art very seriously, I went by the name FirebirdJP and was a well-known and respected figure in the small niche world of gas mask collecting well over a decade ago. I went onto taking downhill skateboarding very seriously and competed in several races in the Midwest. It was the rush I was searching for after the boxes of gas masks wasn't cutting it. As I got older, the less I wanted to be broken all the time, so I went to another set of wheels; cars. I spend lots of my time breaking cars and fixing cars, and hopefully spend more time actually driving them. My first love was a 1976 Pontiac Trans Am, and I've loved Fbodies ever since.

Hobbies have come and go, but art (and Runescape) have never went anywhere. Now I take my love for old cars and 90's and 2000's culture, and incorporate them into my artwork. I love taking cars, with all of their quirks and features, and turn them into cute babes. It lets me explore and research what the world was like when that car was made, and take common issues with those cars and try to incorporate them into a character design. When it comes my storytelling, I owe a lot of that to my love for music, and always challenging myself to make things bigger, better and more over-the-top then when I thought about it last.

Even if you're not die-hard about cars like I am, I'm hopeful that you find something that you like about my art; even if it's small. I'm not here to change the world, I just wanna do what I love and share it with you all.

Much love,
-DH
